Winter Sponsorship and Hatchling Naming Campaign 2026

Welcome to the official Berkshire County Turtle Rescue winter campaign hub! While Eastern Painted Turtles spend the cold winter months brumating safely in the nest they hatched in, underground until spring. Because these hatchlings were born in an artificial incubator (due to their mothers being injured before she could make a nest and lay eggs naturally, our nursery is home to 43 tiny Eastern Painted Turtle hatchlings for the winter, who require specialized, indoor care all winter long, before getting released next year (2027).

Keeping this little crew warm, filtered, and fed with fresh greens, insects, and fish through the freezing New England months takes dedicated time, equipment, and resources. That is why we are inviting our community to directly support their winter care through our exclusive Hatchling Naming Campaign!

How It Works

For a $50 donation, you get the unique honor of naming one of our 43 overwintering hatchlings. Your named turtle will be officially entered into our permanent winter nursery ledger, and you will receive a personalized digital Certificate of Sponsorship to commemorate your support!

Name your Hatchling in 3 Easy Steps

1.Your Donation: Use our secure payment portal below to submit your $50 sponsorship.

2.Name Your Turtle: In the payment note, memo field, or form box provided, type your preferred Hatchling Name (e.g., “Hatchling Name: Peanut”).

3.Get Your Certificate: Once processed, we will match your turtle to our master roster and email your official digital certificate right to your inbox within a week!
